9ball is one of the most popular pool games in the world. In its early days, 9ball pool was known as a money game. Nowadays, 9ball pool is mainly played by the pros. 9ball pool is also the most televised pool game in the world. Notable 9ball pool tournaments are broadcast by major sports channels.
The game of 9ball pool is played on a regular pocket billiard table with 9 object balls (numbered 1 through 9) and the cue ball. 9ball is a rotation game. Therefore, on each shot, the shooter has to cause the cue ball to pocket the lowest numbered ball on the table. The object of the game is to pocket the 9-ball before the opponent.
How to Play 9BallOpening Break ShotIn the opening break shot in 9ball, the breaker must first strike the 1-ball. Then he/she is required to either pocket a ball or send 4 balls (or more) to the table rails. Besides these exceptions, the opening break shot rules are the same as any other shot in 9ball.
Push Out RulesAfter the opening break shot, the shooter may declare a "push out" and to relocate the cue ball so its position for the next shot would improve. The "push out" rule will come to affect only when the player announced its intentions to push out beforehand and only if the previous break shot was legal.
End of Game The 9ball pool game ends with the legally pocketing of the 9-ball. Additionally, if a player has committed 3 consecutive fouls and was warned by his/her opponent between the second and the third foul, the game ends with the loss of the fouling player. |
